The job
I studied hospitality management at Queen Margaret University before joining T.G.I. Friday’s up in Edinburgh. I worked in the kitchen there for 6 months then moved to London. I’m so pleased I was able to stay with Friday’s; I really enjoy it.
It’s very different to the line chef roles I had back in India. For a start I cook every meal to order as opposed to cooking large quantities. I’m an Indian, living in England, cooking American style food! It’s very unusual and really good fun.
The perks
Compared to the other restaurants I’ve worked in, Friday’s is so enjoyable. It has really nice management. They mix with everyone, they really care and they lend a helping hand whenever it’s needed. We all have a lot of fun together.
The team
If I’m really busy at my station in the kitchen and someone else is quiet, they help me out. I’m friends with the other guys in the kitchen and also with the dub-dubs. We go out to the movies or to parties all the time. It’s really friendly here.
The future
Recently our restaurant was refurbished and to celebrate we went to Go Ape! for the day. The new look of the restaurant is great. We got new uniforms too. I’m so happy here, I can’t imagine doing anything else right now.
Top tip
If you’re ever unsure of anything, just ask. Everyone has so much knowledge and they’re always happy to share it.
